Do-It-Yourself gardening has become a blast for me since I began exploring my raised beds that I built last year. The tomatoes and the Mole peppers were my favorite from last year’s garden. I love baking any time of year, but particularly in the fall and winter when the weather turns cold and the house is filled with the delicious aromas of home-baked goodies. When we have special gatherings at work to celebrate a co-workers birthday, my friend and I tend to be the ones to make cakes and other treats to share with the group. I’m often asked about how I got such great results with P90X. When I’m asked I usually say something like “I showed up every day and did my best”. But the truth be told, it’s more than that.

If you want to make your P90X workouts work double time for you, you need to focus on a few things. First and foremost is your diet. You need to fuel your body correctly to grow muscle and burn fat. To do that you need fruits, veggies, and high quality lean protein. It’s hard these days to eat well all the time so one thing I do is to supplement my diet with a high quality whey protein powder.

I also use the right gear. For example, I use the P90X chin-up push-up bar. This is handy because it will fit many doorways and can be put up and taken down easily for every workout. That makes it easy to get those pull-ups done. Another great workout assist is to have either dumbbells or resistance bands for the arm and shoulder workouts. If you are on a limited budget, the resistance bands are the better investment. They are also preferred if you travel a lot.

My family has the habit of biting into an apple, maybe two or three times, and then leaving it abandoned on the kitchen counter. Same thing with bananas and even peaches. They don’t get the idea that it’s wasteful, and I usually end up eating the remaining fruit, or it gets thrown in the compost bucket, especially if I don’t discover it right away. That’s why Fruit Smoothies were invented. The idea of drinking fruit instead of eating it seems to appeal to the kids. About five years ago I decided to add a little pizzazz to my bookshelf with architectural elements and purchased one finial.  This started me on an adventure that continues today.  There are so many wonderful types and kinds of finials that are used in so many applications that we see but don’t really see.  Just take a look at flag poles, the tops and bottoms of staircases and of course, fences.  Also look at entrances into areas, gates and door stops.  I currently use finials all over my house and office for such things as paperweights, ring and bracelet holders and bookends.
