My family has the habit of biting into an apple, maybe two or three times, and then leaving it abandoned on the kitchen counter. Same thing with bananas and even peaches. They don’t get the idea that it’s wasteful, and I usually end up eating the remaining fruit, or it gets thrown in the compost bucket, especially if I don’t discover it right away. That’s why Fruit Smoothies were invented. The idea of drinking fruit instead of eating it seems to appeal to the kids. I normally pour in some milk or yogurt for the added calcium and iron, so our Fruit Smoothies become almost a meal in itself. Don’t forget to make Popsicles out of any leftovers! About five years ago I decided to add a little pizzazz to my bookshelf with architectural elements and purchased one finial.  This started me on an adventure that continues today.  There are so many wonderful types and kinds of finials that are used in so many applications that we see but don’t really see.  Just take a look at flag poles, the tops and bottoms of staircases and of course, fences.  Also look at entrances into areas, gates and door stops.  I currently use finials all over my house and office for such things as paperweights, ring and bracelet holders and bookends. Do you enjoy making the pies and cakes for your family celebrations? I always do and especially the birthday cakes. I’ve always had great fun baking birthday cakes because there are just so many creative ways to decorate them. The only part that used to drive me a bit crazy was getting the cake itself to turn out just right.
