Singing software hit the market in the mid 1980s with high price tags only affordable by top recording studios, or research labs. Initially voice software for singing was used in post production to fix problems that occurred in the recording session. Later, singing software expanded in function to provide automated pitch correction, eq, and other effects in real time, which was very helpful during live performances.
