It Started Out with One Finial
About five years ago I decided to add a little pizzazz to my bookshelf with architectural elements and purchased one finial. This started me on an adventure that continues today. There are so many wonderful types and kinds of finials that are used in so many applications that we see but don’t really see. Just take a look at flag poles, the tops and bottoms of staircases and of course, fences. Also look at entrances into areas, gates and door stops. I currently use finials all over my house and office for such things as paperweights, ring and bracelet holders and bookends.
This has also led me to the lowly post cap that normally sits underneath and acts as the base for finials. Post caps can also be used as centerpieces for your tables. One of my favorites is using solar caps that create a wonderful soft light in the middle of a table as you dine outside. If you want to be creative in any way, I would suggest you take a look at some of these simple elements and discover what you can do with them that will lift your décor to the next level. They are inspirational and beautiful!
